Build Date and Paint Code Reference

The code formatting varies slightly by era, depending on your car's model year (that is, the August–July production year, known variously as Baujahr (BJ), Build Year, or Model Year (MY), rather than the calendar year).

Please note: Build dates calculated here are based on ISO 8601 calendar weeks and are intended as a guide only. The date shown represents the week and day stamp as found on the vehicle and reflects a point during the assembly process rather than a specific completed build date. Vehicle assembly was a multi-day process spanning several stations on the production line, and the stamped date may not correspond to the day the vehicle was fully completed. Results should therefore be treated as an approximation and verified against other documentation where possible.
